Manchester United chiefs are expected to recommend that Carrick be appointed as permanent manager following his impressive spell as caretaker, during which he has won 66.7% of his games in charge.

The former United midfielder, 44, has secured a return to the Champions League after guiding United from seventh to third in the table, with no Premier League club winning more points (33) since Carrick’s appointment on 13 January.

Arteta is two victories from delivering Arsenal’s first Premier League title since 2004 – but he could yet be denied by fellow Spaniard Guardiola, who could win Manager of the Season for a sixth time.

Iraola has taken Bournemouth to the brink of qualifying for Europe for the first time in their history, while Andrews can also achieve that feat with Brentford in his first season as a manager.

Meanwhile, under Le Bris, Sunderland have spent much of their first season back in the English top flight inside the top half of the table, clear of relegation trouble.
