June 11: Let’s see how offseason moves are looking

André Snellings: This was one of the biggest offseasons in WNBA history due to the signing of the groundbreaking collective bargaining agreement, and there was more player movement among veterans than we typically see. Coming into the season, we had expectations about how these players would produce in their new environment. A month into the season, let’s explore some of those big moves and revisit those expectations, tempered with what we’ve seen so far on the court.

Angel Reese, Atlanta Dream: Reese was traded to the Dream this offseason after playing her first two campaigns with the Chicago Sky. She was the dominant rebounder in the WNBA and an up-and-coming scorer with the Sky, but didn’t play with superstar teammates there like she would have in Atlanta with Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray. We expected Reese to have slightly attenuated numbers but remain a walking double-double, and that is what we’ve seen so far. Through 11 games, she has averaged 13.6 PPG, 12.2 RPG and 3.2 APG — all slightly down from last season but still enough for her to be ninth in the league with 33.7 fantasy points per game.

Skylar Diggins, Chicago Sky: Diggins has been solid but unspectacular in her first month with the Sky. Entering the season she was a borderline late second/early third round fantasy prospect who had top-10 upside if her minutes and production reached achievable levels of bounce-back on a team that didn’t have a lot of offense creators. To date, she has instead averaged just 27.4 FP/G — just under the 30.5 FP/G she was projected — to rank 30th in fantasy scoring average.

Brittney Sykes and Marina Mabrey, Toronto Tempo: Sykes and Mabrey were drafted by the expansion Tempo and immediately drew attention for their potential to outperform previous production with likely the largest roles of their careers. They have surpassed even those lofty expectations to date, with both Sykes (414 fantasy points, fourth) and Mabrey (377 fantasy points, eighth) ranking among the top-10 in the WNBA in total fantasy points. Sykes has five games of 25 or more points with three over 30 in her first 12 games, while Mabrey has five over 20 including one 30-spot herself. Both are, in fact, in the midst of career seasons.

Satou Sabally, New York Liberty: Sabally left a Phoenix Mercury team that made the WNBA Finals last season to join the 2024 WNBA Champion Liberty and their big three of Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones. The question coming into the season was whether one team could support four fantasy superstars, but through the first month this question is largely unanswered with both Sabally and Ionescu battling through injury (Ionescu has still only played one game to date). Sabally has played in seven of the last eight games since missing the first four but started only three. She has played more than 20 minutes just twice this season and we haven’t seen her play at her typical level on a full-strength Liberty team to have a good idea what her fantasy production will be moving forward. To date, she ranks 90th with 14.7 FP/G and outside of the top 100 with 103 total fantasy points.

June 10: The 2026 rookie class is not waiting its turn

No. 2 WNBA Draft pick Olivia Miles (right) drives against No. 1 pick Azzi Fudd (left). Nick Wosika/Icon SportswireEric Moody: This year’s WNBA rookie class is already proving to be a deep one, and the strong start goes beyond the marquee names. Top picks and international standouts are getting opportunities to make an impact, whether they are settling into rotation roles or filling the void for injured veterans. Entering Tuesday’s slate, eight rookies were averaging double-digit points, which would be the second most in a season in league history behind 14 in 1999, the league’s third season and one that also featured multiple expansion teams. Let’s take a closer look at the top fantasy basketball options from this class.Play Fantasy Women’s Basketball

Olivia Miles, the No. 2 overall pick in the WNBA Draft, has been the clear standout. She leads all rookies in points, rebounds, assists, steals and fantasy points due to her ability to produce across the stat sheet. Only A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart have more fantasy points than Miles. She is just the sixth player in league history to average 15.0 PPG and 5.0 APG through her first 10 games, and the only one in that group to shoot 50% or better from the field. Miles also set the league rookie record for three-pointers in a game with eight last Thursday.

June 9: Four players to add to your lineups

Awa Fam (right) of the Seattle Storm has scored in double figures in two of her past three games. Jesse Johnson-Imagn ImagesAndré Snellings: Kelsey Plum returned from her three-game injury absence last week and has largely picked up where she left off. Plum is leading the WNBA in scoring with 25.5 PPG and is fifth in assists with 6.4 APG. Though the Los Angeles Sparks are currently outside of the playoffs picture, Plum is putting together a season that would otherwise make her an MVP. Either way, she is a viable candidate for fantasy MVP with one of the highest trade values in the league.

Elsewhere around the league, the New York Liberty have won five straight games, even though they are still dealing with injury issues to some of their best players. Sabrina Ionescu has still played only one game this season, sitting the last six and is currently dealing with a back injury. Teammate Satou Sabally has played in four straight games since having to miss a game due to illness, and is ramping up her workload as she recovers from the cyst injury that has bothered her all season. Sabally has averaged 11.3 PPG in her past three, and has averaged more than 20 minutes played in back-to-back games for only the second time this season.

Caitlin Clark has been playing through a back injury and illness of late, leading the Indiana Fever to a victory over the Atlanta Dream. That win had been rare of late for the Fever, who had lost three of their past four games before Clark had another hero moment last night. Clark hit a game-winning three-pointer from the logo against the Washington Mystics last night to get the Fever their second win in their past three and move them back up to sixth in the standings.

As we do in this space, let’s take a closer look into the all of the action around the league and identify four players who fantasy managers might consider targeting if they are available in your leagues.

Free agent picks

Maddy Siegrist, F, Dallas Wings (Rostered in 22.5% of ESPN leagues): Siegrist has started the last three games for the Wings in place of Alanna Smith. Smith missed only one game due to illness, but Siegrist has stayed in the starting lineup in the two games since. Siegrist has taken advantage of the starting role, averaging 11.0 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 1.7 SPG and 1.7 3PG in the three starts.

Natisha Hiedeman, G, Seattle Storm (48.0%): Hiedeman has started all 13 games for the Storm this season and has been making a big impact. Hiedeman has averaged 15.7 PPG, 4.2 APG and 2.5 3PG in her last ten games.

Isabelle Harrison, F, Toronto Tempo (6.5%): Harrison made her season debut on Sunday after recovering from a hand injury, scoring 14 points with six boards in 17 minutes. She has a path to playing time and production with the Tempo, and could be a solid producer of scoring and rebounding moving forward.

Awa Fam, C, Seattle Storm (28.1%): Fam has played 29 minutes or more in four straight games and moved into the starting lineup for the last three. Fam’s best game came against the Phoenix Mercury last week, with 18 points, six rebounds, two blocks and a steal in 33 minutes. Fam has that type of upside on any given night, and if she remains the starter she could start to achieve that upside.

June 5: Weekend preview and streaming picks

Nyara Sabally’s career has taken off with the Tempo. Dustin Satloff/Getty ImagesEric Moody: The first month of the WNBA season has already created plenty of fantasy movement. Injuries for the Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm, New York Liberty and the Los Angeles Sparks have opened up additional minutes, while expansion teams like the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo are getting legitimate production from players who had minimal fantasy relevance in past seasons.

In a season where injuries and expansion teams are reshaping rotations, the best managers will be the ones who adjust first.

Fantasy stream team

Let’s look at some streaming options rostered in fewer than 50% of ESPN leagues, with three games scheduled Friday, four more on Saturday and two on Sunday.

Nyara Sabally, F/C, Toronto Tempo (rostered in 46.2% of ESPN leagues): Sabally is in the midst of a career-best season with the Tempo. She contributes in every statistical category and has scored at least 18 fantasy points in three of her last four games, including a 48-point fantasy performance. Sabally has averaged 25.8 minutes per game, keeping her firmly on the streaming radar.

Nia Coffey, F/C, Minnesota Lynx (41.2%): The Lynx are thriving despite still being without Napheesa Collier, and Coffey is one of the players who has benefited. She has become a legitimate floor spacer, shooting well from beyond the arc for a Minnesota team that thrives on ball movement. Coffey has also excelled defensively and has scored at least 20 fantasy points in five consecutive games, including one 40-point performance.

Carla Leite, G, Portland Fire (37.4%): Leite contributes mostly through points and assists, but that role has still translated to steady fantasy value. She has scored at least 23 fantasy points in four of her last six games and played at least 22 minutes in each of them. Leite is getting the kind of runway expansion teams can provide, and she is turning it into real fantasy value.

Julie Allemand, G, Toronto Tempo (5.9%): Kiki Rice suffered a Grade 2 ankle sprain during Wednesday’s game against the Liberty, and since she was on crutches afterward, it seems unlikely she’ll be ready for Sunday’s matchup against the Chicago Sky. That puts Allemand on the streaming radar after she played the most minutes among Tempo reserves and finished with 17 fantasy points.
