Butland became England’s youngest-ever goalkeeper when he made his senior debut in 2012 at the age of 19.

“I’m delighted it’s all sorted now and I’m really excited to be here,” Butland told the club website.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world and, personally, it’s a great opportunity to be on the biggest stage again. I believe it’s the level I’m capable of playing at, and I’ve done it before.”

Hull secured promotion to the Premier League by beating Middlesbrough 1-0 in the Championship play-off final at Wembley in May.

This week Hull sold goalkeeper Ivor Pandur – to Rangers – and midfielder Aidon Shehu before Tuesday’s deadline to avoid the threat of a points deduction under profit and sustainability regulations.

Butland’s arrival is the first addition of what is expected to be a busy summer at the MKM Stadium.
