It’s the business end of the 2026 World Cup and every team left in the tournament knows what their path to the final is set to be. The 48 teams involved in the tournament were knocked down to 32 at the end of the group stage, and now we’ve moved pass the the round of 16 and into the quarterfinals as eight teams get whittled down to the final four.
Some of the pre-tournament favorites have been dropped along the way. Brazil lost to Norway, Portugal were eliminated by one of the tournament favorites in Spain. The quarterfinal round began with a bang as Kylian Mbappe led France over Morocco in a rematch of the 2022 semifinals with France once again prevailing 2-0. Belgium, fresh off dispatching the United States are facing Spain while on the other side of the bracket Norway and Erling Haaland face England, and Lionel Messi aims to keep his dream of a back-to-back World Cup alive against surprise side Switzerland.
