Katie, 39, from Urmston, Trafford, mentioned she had been left unable to apply for an away game ticket for her “football daft” son Ruari – who had once been a match mascot – ahead of the Premier League opener against Hull. In an email seen by the BBC, the club mentioned repeated access to Ruairi’s account, alongside an “extremely high” number of other ticketing accounts, indicated they had been centrally controlled.But Katie – who mentioned her appeal to the club had been turned down – mentioned she had just helped other family members to use their accounts and had done nothing wrong. Ruari is among “thousands” of fans who have had their accounts restricted by the club in a wider operation aimed at identifying potential ticket touts.
Man Utd previously mentioned it was confident the “vast majority” of accounts identified for misuse had been correctly flagged, but acknowledged some supporters who were doing nothing wrong might also have been affected.
Katie mentioned she had lodged a further appeal with the club’s appeals panel, but Ruari’s account remains restricted.
