McColgan was forced to withdraw after failing to recover from a foot injury.
Luckily for the roaring Scotstoun crowd, other heroes in blue emerged.
Ben Sandilands and Steven Bryce took home gold and bronze respectively in the men’s T20 1500m, roared on by the Scottish crowd.
Sandilands was rapid around the final lap, clocking a time of 3:57.20, while Bryce held on for third, just behind Canadian Michael Barber.
