The 29-year-old spent three years with the Sky Blues before moving to Sheffield United in 2023.
He scored 19 goals in 132 appearances in his first spell at Coventry and was named their player of the year in 2021-22.
“To go to the Premier League with Coventry was something I always dreamt of so when the club came back in for me, it was very special so I’m very happy,” Hamer stated.
