OXNARD, Calif. — Future Hall of Fame pass rusher Von Miller is coming home, agreeing to a deal with the Dallas Cowboys, the team revealed Sunday night.

It is a one-year contract, a source told ESPN.

Miller, who attended DeSoto (Texas) High School before heading to Texas A&M, is entering his 15th season and has more sacks (138.5) than any other active player.

“Hereee Weee Gooo,” Miller posted on social media, along with an image of himself in a Cowboys uniform.

  • Miller, 37, will be asked to be part of a pass-rush rotation that features Rashan Gary, Donovan Ezeiruaku, first-round pick Malachi Lawrence and potentially Sam Williams, James Houston and Marist Liufau.

Miller recorded nine sacks last season for the Washington Commanders — his highest total since 2021, when he finished with 9.5 while splitting time with the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams.

A first-round pick of the Broncos in 2011, Miller has been named to the Pro Bowl eight times and has been a first- or second-team All-Pro seven times. He was the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2011 and twice finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting (2012, 2016).

At the start of training camp, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones hinted at possibly adding a significant piece to the defense. Last week, the team signed defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to a three-year, $105.9 million extension and is now adding Miller.

Though Miller might not be the every-down player he was with the Broncos, the Cowboys believe he can be a difference-maker for new coordinator Christian Parker.

Parker and Miller were together in Denver for parts of one season before Miller was dealt to Los Angeles, where he won his second Super Bowl ring. Miller was named MVP of Super Bowl 50 after he helped Denver win the title in the 2015 season, when he paired with Cowboys Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware.

Miller viewed Ware as a much-needed mentor during his time with the Broncos and perhaps Miller can serve the same role for the young Cowboys pass rushers.

After half a season with the Rams, Miller signed with the Buffalo Bills as a free agent. He played three years with the Bills, though two of them were impacted by a torn ACL that caused him to miss the final five games of the 2022 season and the first four in ’23.
