WESTFIELD, Ind. — After winning his third consecutive season points title and his second straight team crown, Jon Rahm and other full-time tour members will wait to see what happens to LIV Golf in 2027.
Rahm closed with a 7-under 63 at the revised season finale for his second straight runner-up finish in suburban Indianapolis. He ended up a stroke behind 22-year-old Michael La Sasso, the 2025 NCAA individual champ at Mississippi. La Sasso finished with a 65 to get to 18 under.
With the season over, there are only more questions.
“There’s been a lot that’s surrounded all of us pretty much since we joined, and at the end of the day, when you step on the golf course, it’s just golf,” Rahm reported after bogeying his last hole to open the door for La Sasso. “So all the problems and theories go away, and you compete. It hasn’t been any harder or any easier in any way. It’s just, kind of I think, the life of a pro athlete.”

LIV CEO Scott O’Neil told reporters Wednesday that he was bullish about plans for 2027 and beyond, saying players would be equity owners and have their commercial rights restored. O’Neil reported the plan was to have five team championships overseas and five individual tournaments in the United States scheduled close to the majors for those who qualify for them.
He did not name the lead investor with whom LIV has reached an agreement, but a source validated to ESPN that it is Ted Goldthorpe of BC Partners.
On Tuesday, Goldthorpe spoke to LIV players in Indianapolis for the first time and shared his vision. The term sheet is not a binding agreement and, though O’Neil did not provide details about when that agreement could be finalized, he described the timeline as “compressed.”
O’Neil reported there was a deadline for players to commit to LIV 2.0 without citing a specific date. He also has not mentioned the size of the proposed investment.
O’Neil reported he has a “good level of confidence” that a “critical mass of the right players” will return. Rahm is under contract through next season, but Bryson DeChambeau has an expiring contract this year.
DeChambeau tied for third with Sergio García on Sunday and did not speak with reporters following Sunday’s event.
Last year’s attendance for the three-round event drew more than 60,000 fans, an American record for a LIV event. Organizers did not announce figures for this year’s tournament.
