FPL talking point: Stick or twist with Haaland? Image source, Getty ImagesImage caption, Erling Haaland has scored 22 points across the previous three gameweeks Published1 hour agoErling Haaland travels to the city of his birth on Saturday when Manchester City visit Leeds in the Premier League (17:30 GMT).
And with more points that any other player in FPL, he remains a standout pick as a captain.
However, with City set to be one of three clubs without a fixture in Gameweek 31 – meaning their players will score zero points that week – do you stick or twist with the Norway forward?
FPL expert Prasun Singhal and some of the team from the FPL Podcast assess the best options for Gameweek 28.
Singhal: “Haaland started the season valued at £14m but his price has risen to £14.8m. If you want him back for the run-in, which could include a double gameweek at some point, that will be so much more expensive to do.
“Even if Haaland isn’t the best choice at the moment, it’s not like other premium priced players are putting their hand up.
“Mohamed Salah has not scored in nine weeks and Bukayo Saka is also a confirmed blank for Gameweek 31 with the Carabao Cup final, so would you want to use precious transfers up?
“That reported, in his past nine starts, Haaland has exceeded six points just once, and he now has just one open play goal in the past 10 games.
Chris Sutton: “Leeds are excellent at home. It was a close game earlier this season at City, when things turned around after they had put Dominic Calvert-Lewin on.
“I don’t know with Erling Haaland, because with Leeds being his dad’s former team, will he want to score? I may go elsewhere [as captain].”
