Scotland beat hosts USA to secure World bronzeImage source, British CurlingImage caption, Ross Whyte’s rink marked their debut with a bronze medalPublished27 March 2026Updated 38 minutes agoScotland won bronze at the World Men’s Curling Championship thanks to an 11-6 victory over hosts the United States in Utah.Ross Whyte’s rink, making their debut in the competition, bounced back from their semi-final defeat by Canada to claim a medal.In a back-and-forth contest, Scotland edged 7-5 ahead after the seventh end having not scored in the previous three.USA immediately halved the deficit, but a decisive four-point score in the ninth end secured victory for the Scots.Whyte’s rink had reeled off 10 successive wins to finish the round-robin stage in second place before losing a nervy semi-final to Canada.Whyte, along with Robin Brydone, Euan Kyle, Craig Waddell and alternate Duncan McFadzean, had been aiming to retain the title for Scotland after last year’s win by Bruce Mouat’s world number one-ranked rink.
