Announcing the fixture, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) paid tribute to the legendary former Romania boss Mircea Lucescu, who died last week.

“The Football Association of Wales sends its condolences to Lucescu’s family, friends and everyone at the Romanian Football Federation,” the FAW stated.

Wales saw their hopes of reaching the 2026 World Cup end thanks to a penalty shootout defeat by Bosnia-Herzegovina in the play-off semi-final last month, while Romania were beaten at the same stage by Turkey.

The Ghana and Romania friendlies will be a chance for Wales to prepare for the Nations League A campaign which awaits in the autumn.
