The women’s college basketball season might be over, but the transfer portal is in full swing. Since the day after UCLA topped South Carolina to win the national championship, over 1,400 players have put their names into the portal, including former Iowa State star Audi Crooks, the nation’s second-leading scorer.
But some of those players have already decided to withdraw their names and stay at their original schools, including Kymora Johnson. The Cavaliers star led her team to the Sweet 16 as a No. 10 seed last month, but put her name in the portal after Virginia unexpectedly fired head coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton after the season. Though Johnson was highly sought-after in the portal, even having a visit at South Carolina, it seems like the hiring of Richmond’s Aaron Roussell as the new head coach was enough to entice Johnson back to Charlottesville, where she grew up.

Meanwhile, Liv McGill, No. 2 in our transfer portal rankings, made a somewhat surprising move from Florida to Oklahoma State. McGill, a great combination of scoring and playmaking, averaged 22.5 points and 6.3 assists last season. As a sophomore, she led the nation with 20.8 pick-and-roll possessions per game with a 54.6% frequency. This is a skill Oklahoma State coach Jacie Hoyt certainly appreciates, as the Cowgirls were 14th in the country in pick-and-roll frequency (32.8%) and seventh in pick-and-roll possessions per game (27.5) last season.
Crooks still has not revealed her decision. Besides Crooks, Iowa State had eight other players enter the portal in the first 12 hours it opened, including co-stars Addy Brown and Jada Williams — who has since committed to Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers. The Cyclones were one of several high-profile teams to take a major hit, none more so than Tennessee, as coach Kim Caldwell saw every single player from the 2025-26 roster either graduate or enter the transfer portal. A more unexpected roster turnover is happening at Texas, a program fresh off two consecutive Final Four appearances.
As of Wednesday, seven of the top-10 players in our rankings have revealed their commitments. In addition to Johnson, McGill and Williams, former Tennessee guard Talaysia Cooper is headed to Ole Miss, former Georgia guard Dani Carnegie is headed to Iowa, former Texas guard Jordan Lee is headed to South Carolina and former NC State guard Zamareya Jones is headed to Louisville.
Elsewhere, Aaliyah Crump made the move from Texas to Duke and a few of our notable freshmen have revealed commitments, including former Tennessee guard Deniya Prawl to Louisville and former LSU guard Bella Hines to TCU. Mark Campbell has wasted no time, as Hines is the fifth player to join the Horned Frogs via transfer portal, along with Lara Somfai from Stanford, Lanie Grant from North Carolina, Avery Hjelmstad from Utah and Jadyn Wooten from Oklahoma State. Elina Aarnisalo, who started her career at UCLA and will be rejoining the Bruins after spending one season at North Carolina.
The portal is open for 15 days from April 6 to 20. However, this period is only for when players need to file the paperwork to enter their names in the portal. They can still visit schools and make their decisions after the window closes on April 20.

In addition to No. 11 Aaliyah Crump, 10 other freshmen in the portal were top 25 recruits coming into last season, according to 247Sports. Whether due to injury, inexperience, roster congestion, or some combination of all three, the majority did not have significant or consistent roles last season.
