Could Man Utd & Sesko provide a point of difference?

If you were to pivot away from Haaland or any of his Manchester City colleagues, would it be wise to look for alternatives to Manchester United, who have appeared revitalised under Michael Carrick?

United host Crystal Palace on Saturday as they aim to continue their push for Champions League football next term.

Trips to Newcastle and Bournemouth then bookend Aston Villa’s visit to Old Trafford.

Athletic writer and podcaster Carl Anka: “There has been clarity in roles and attacking play since Michael Carrick has come in. Benjamin Sesko, even though he is not always starting, has become an option as a differential up front.

“Bruno Fernandes being restored to a number 10 position means he is up there now with some of the more expensive midfield picks but his output is always going to be good.

“On set-pieces, I think Casemiro is also a decent attacking contributor because so many of Manchester United’s set-pieces are played towards the back post, where he is going to get a head on to them.”

Statman Dave: “In terms of combinations between a creator and shooter, only Morgan Rogers to Ollie Watkins has scored higher than Bruno Fernandes to Casemiro.

“In terms of assists, two of Bruno Fernandes’ assists have gone to Sesko from open play.

“Bryan Mbeumo is the one [alongside Fernandes], if you are going for a double Manchester United midfield.”
