When the NCAA men’s basketball tournament resumed with regional semifinal action Thursday night, one team asserted itself as the new team to beat, while another entered the favorite conversation by knocking off one of the remaining contenders.
Arizona returned to favorite status at +240 to win the national championship after its manhandling of Arkansas, a spot the Wildcats held (at longer odds) coming out of the first weekend. At BetMGM, Arizona has the largest percentage of tickets and handle, which includes a $50,000 wager at +450 odds, but is not considered a liability with the sportsbook.

Meanwhile, Illinois moved to its shortest title odds of the tournament at +750, fourth on the odds board, when it eliminated Houston, which had been at +700 going into Thursday’s action. Purdue also got a slight bump following its win (13-1 to 12-1), while this year’s Cinderella story, Iowa, made a huge move up from 120-1 to 45-1.
One-seeds Michigan (+350) and Duke (+370) will look to overtake Arizona when they get back in action Friday.
