A former UFC champion fights his way back into the title race against a rising contender hungry to take his spot. Belal Muhammad and Gabriel Bonfim headline UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas on Saturday.Muhammad has never lost consecutive fights before now. Muhammad’s rise to welterweight champion capped an 11-fight undefeated streak, but he’s 0-2 since. This weekend, Muhammad sets out to remind everyone why he’s a legitimate threat to the crown. Bonfim can really shake up the welterweight division. Currently ranked No. 11, he can immediately break into elite status by knocking off a former champion ranked in the top five.Speaking of elite fighters, No. 4-ranked middleweight Brendan Allen takes an even bigger risk than Muhammad. He risks his standing against unranked contender Edmen Shahbazyan. Shahbazyan, once a training partner of Ronda Rousey, hasn’t fought with such consistency since his debut stretch. An upset win over Allen finally validates the lofty expectations he failed to live up to for years.Sign up for Paramount+ and WATCH UFC for no additional fee — every UFC numbered event and UFC Fight Night is included with your subscription. The UFC heads to the White House on June 14. You read that correctly. Some of the promotion’s top stars will fight on the White House lawn at UFC Freedom 250. The seven-fight card, scheduled for June 14, is chock-full of bangers. Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje unify their lightweight titles in the marquee. In the co-main event, former two-division champion Alex Pereira makes his heavyweight debut in pursuit of the interim title. Other notable names on the card include Sean O’Malley, Michael Chandler and Diego Lopes, plus the late addition of Josh Hokit vs. Derrick Lewis.
After that is the highly anticipated return of Conor McGregor. “The Notorious” former two-division champion fights for the first time in five years, taking on a familiar face in Max Holloway at UFC International Fight Week.
