Quillan Salkilld might be the next big thing in the lightweight division. On Saturday, he can prove it by taking out perennial contender Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Fight Night. Salkilld has become UFC’s fastest-rising Oceanic fighter by leaving destruction in his wake. He kicked things into overdrive with a head-kick knockout over Nasrat Haqparast, earning CBS Sports’ 2025 Knockout of the Year. Most recently, he shut off perennial contender Beneil Dariush in one round. His opponent this weekend is a different beast entirely.
Gamrot has struggled against elite competition, but has largely thrived in the sport’s toughest division. Gamrot, arguably the best pure lightweight wrestler, has wins over top contender Arman Tsarukyan and former champion Rafael dos Anjos under his belt. He’ll look to snuff out Salkilld’s momentum and take it for himself.

Then, one of the promotion’s top stars returns, concluding a ridiculous stretch from UFC Freedom 250 to UFC 330. Islam Makhachev, prized pupil of Khabib Nurmagomedov, defends the welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry on Aug. 15. The promotion’s return to Philadelphia features a second title fight, women’s strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern vs. Gillian Robertson.
