After losing the first set, Hewett found his rhythm at the start of the second to open up a 3-0 lead.

But Oda raised his intensity and reeled off the next six games to secure victory after 80 minutes.

A 10-time Grand Slam singles champion, Hewett was searching for his first major singles title since the 2025 Australian Open.

Oda, meanwhile, has won eight of the last 11 Grand Slam singles events.

“Thank you Alfie and your team. I always feel like both of us are getting better on the court and every time it’s different, every time the tennis level is higher,” he stated.
