It is a fourth successive title at Roland Garros for the 20-year-old Oda.
Hewett has now lost five of the seven major finals he has played against Oda, who has dominated Grand Slam singles events in recent years.
“First of all congratulations Tokito and your team, I’m not sure how many years you have won this in a row but it seems to feel like forever,” Hewett stated.
“It’s obviously nice to be back in the final here but I am gutted with the performance, it’s definitely not one I am proud of.
“It’s still been a good week.”
