METAIRIE, La. — New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan could potentially miss the start of the season with a hamstring injury, according to Saints coach Kellen Moore.
Moore stated Jordan’s injury occurred during Thursday’s practice, and he has missed the past three practice sessions. (He was not at Saturday’s practice because he attended Drew Brees’ Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement.)
Moore stated “he’s going to miss a little bit of time,” but the injury will be reevaluated every few days. Moore didn’t initially specify a timeline, but when asked to clarify about the severity, stated it could go past the preseason.

“It could possibly get into the season, but you never know,” Moore stated. “[You need] to have some patience with it, let it take its course and we’ll collect more information as we go.”
Jordan, 37, has missed only one game due to injury in his career. He missed a Week 11 game during the 2022 season due to an orbital fracture but returned the following week. He also missed one game in 2021 due to COVID-19.
“Let’s get to work,” Jordan wrote on X on Monday.
The Saints have veterans Chase Young and Carl Granderson on the defensive line and acquired Tyree Wilson via a trade with the Raiders during the draft. They also signed former Patriots defensive end Anfernee Jennings in April.
“We certainly feel good about our depth in that position. We got some really talented players on the edge. We view it as a strength of our football team,” Moore stated. “We’re going to need multiple guys to play throughout the season no matter what. … So we’ll take time to kind of evaluate while Cam’s out and see where it looks here through training camp and then these other guys will be ready to go.”
