The Argentine striker was on his way to join Cardiff – then in the Premier League – from FC Nantes for a £15m transfer fee.
There has been a long-running dispute between the two clubs, with the recent chapter coming in March when Cardiff’s claim they were due compensation from Nantes over the loss of Sala was dismissed.
