Clemson senior defensive tackle Vic Burley has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest early Saturday for disorderly conduct, coach Dabo Swinney declared.
“Earlier today, I was made aware of defensive tackle Vic Burley’s arrest by the Clemson University Police Department for disorderly conduct early Saturday morning,” Swinney mentioned in a statement released Saturday. “I have made the decision to suspend Vic from our football team indefinitely. We are extremely disappointed by his actions and decisions.”
The suspension adds another question to a Clemson defensive tackle room that was already one of the least experienced positions on the roster. Before preseason practice began, Swinney described the room as a significant question mark for the Tigers.

Burley had the most career FBS snaps among Clemson’s current defensive tackles with 257 entering the season. The Tigers lost their top three defensive tackles from last season to either the NFL Draft or transfer portal, leaving Burley among the players expected to compete for an expanded role in 2026.
His suspension could create a larger role for transfer Andy Burburija, who was the No. 15 junior college prospect by 247Sports when he arrived from Iowa Western Community College in June.
Burley, a 6-foot-4, 316-pound former five-star recruit from Warner Robins, Georgia, missed his freshman season because of a knee injury. He has appeared in 21 games over the past two seasons, including all 13 games last season, when he recorded 15 tackles and made one start.
Burley had recently returned to practice following an injury and made several plays during Clemson’s scrimmage Thursday, earning praise from Swinney afterward.
“I actually noticed Vic at least three times,” Swinney mentioned, according to 247Sports. “It was good seeing him out there.”
Clemson opens the 2026 season unranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2011. The Tigers open the season at No. 11 LSU on Sept. 5.
