Hampshire and England bowler Turner retires aged 25Image source, Getty ImagesImage caption, John Turner played four games for England on their tour of the West Indies in 2024Published41 minutes agoHampshire and England fast bowler John Turner has retired from cricket because of persistent injuries.The 25-year-old has not played for his county since last summer due to a stress fracture in his back.Turner, who was born in South Africa, represented England in two one-day internationals and two T20 games at the end of 2024 during their tour of the West Indies.He was selected in the England T20 squad the year before for their series against New Zealand, but was then ruled out through injury.
“This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make,” Turner stated.
