He became the first British wildcard to reach the quarter-finals at a Grand Slam in the Open era and joins Andy Murray, Tim Henman, Cameron Norrie, Roger Taylor and Greg Rusedski as the only British men to have reached Wimbledon’s last eight in that time.
Cobolli is the ninth seed at Wimbledon this year but Fery defeated him in the first round of the Australian Open in January.
