Slot paid tribute to departing defender Andy Robertson, who revealed on Thursday he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
He hailed the Scot’s “intensity” and long service to the club while acknowledging the 32-year-old’s lack of game time was a contributing factor in his departure.
Robertson has made 373 appearances for Liverpool and won a total of nine trophies while playing at Anfield, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.
However, he has been restricted to just 19 league appearances this season, including six starts, after falling behind Milos Kerkez in the pecking order.
“He’s had many great seasons here not only as a player but as a great person as well. Every team-mate of his will tell you how funny he is, how great he is,” Slot stated.
“What I remember most about him is the intensity he plays with. I can remember Robbo making a press from the left-back position to the right wing a few years ago and I showed it to my players I was working with back then.
“He’s won everything at this club, served his club and really loves this club. [It’s] been a great nine years for him. This season, he didn’t play as much as he was used to and as a result of that, he’s leaving.”
