Livingston had spent six seasons in the Premiership when they were last relegated two years ago.

But they finished second behind Falkirk in the Scottish Championship last term and were promoted after beating Ross County in the Premiership play-off final.

Livingston attempted to change this season’s fortunes when David Martindale’s five-year spell as manager was ended in February and he was made sporting director so assistant Bartley could take full control of the team.

However, while Livingston have only lost four of their 11 games under the former Hibernian midfielder, they could only manage one victory.
