Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount is set to miss Wednesday’s pre-season encounter with Leeds at Croke Park.

Mount was outstanding in United’s first three pre-season games, operating in the number eight role, with new signing Andrey Santos just behind.

However, he was kicked on the foot in the early minutes of Saturday’s draw with Paris St-Germain in Gothenburg.

Although head coach Michael Carrick stated he took Mount off in the first half as a precaution, and the 27-year-old was walking freely when he made his way to the team coach after the game, it is understood he has not trained since and is unlikely to play against Leeds.

It is not known whether Mount will be available for Saturday’s final pre-season game against Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan in Wroclaw on Saturday.

Argentina defender Lisandro Martinez has trained since his arrival at United’s six-day camp in the Republic of Ireland, having picked up an injury in the first half of the World Cup final.

England duo Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo have also trained this week, although it is not known whether Carrick will feel they have had sufficient time on the training pitch to feature against Leeds.

The game will be the first time two English association football teams will have played at the historic home of the Gaelic Athletic Association.
