On Friday morning, Cocky, Cosmo, Goldy, Miles and Mrs. Met entered the Mascot Hall of Fame, joining a pantheon of some of sports’ most famous costumed friends.
The announcement was made on “Good Morning America,” with the five mascots on site to receive the news.

The quintet will make up the 11th Mascot Hall of Fame class, including the inaugural 2005 class, and will join 38 previously honored mascots in the Hall.
Here’s a little more about the five inductees and why they were deserving of making the Hall.
Cocky, South Carolina Gamecocks
Much like the school he represents, Cocky does not lack for trophies. John Byrum/Icon SportswireCocky, representing the South Carolina Gamecocks since 1980, is one of the most accomplished mascots in the game when it comes to trophy cabinets. Cosmo, BYU Cougars
Cosmo’s mascot resume is second to none. John Rivera/Icon SportswireBYU mascot Cosmo the Cougar made his debut in 1953 by parachuting into LaVell Edwards Stadium, and enters the Hall with a lengthy résumé — he is the holder of three official Guinness World Records, tops in the record books in double high-fives, back handsprings and consecutive breakdance windmills.
Goldy, Minnesota Golden Gophers
Goldy the Gopher’s head spin always gets Minnesota fans going. Miles has been on hand for some of the Broncos’ biggest moments.
