Roman Reigns made the first defense of the newly acquired WWE World Heavyweight Championship with a win over his cousin, Jacob Fatu, at Backlash inside Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida, on Saturday.
Earlier on the card, Trick Williams defeated Sami Zayn in a match for the Men’s United States Championship. Williams beat Zayn at WrestleMania 42 to win the title.
Bron Breakker defeated Seth Rollins, and The Miz and Kit Wilson were no match for Danhausen and the “mini-Hausens.” Also, Iyo Sky squared off against Asuka and defeated her former faction member.
During the event, retired 17-time WWE champion John Cena revealed the John Cena Classic. The new tournament is intended to spotlight the stars of tomorrow, with a new championship added and crowd participation in selecting the eventual champion, whether they win their match or not.
