PHILADELPHIA — Max Scherzer moved into 10th place all-time in strikeouts with 3,516 after fanning four to help the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-5 on Saturday night.

Scherzer, 42, passed Hall of Famer Walter Johnson (3,515) after striking out Kyle Schwarber to lead off the sixth inning.

After five shutout innings, Scherzer gave up consecutive home runs to Trae Turner and Bryce Harper following the strikeout of Schwarber, ending the right-hander’s night.

Next up for Scherzer on the list is Gaylord Perry with 5,534 strikeouts. Ahead of him is the only other active pitcher in the top 10 — Justin Verlander with 3,554.

Scherzer is in his 19th season and his second with the Blue Jays. He’s 1-4 with a 7.25 ERA and 27 total strikeouts this season.
