After months of negotiations, culminating in a week of marathon bargaining sessions last month, the WNBA and the players’ association verbally agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement March 18. That meant the league would have to conduct an expansion draft, free agency and the WNBA draft in a compressed offseason before the 30th season tips off May 8.
So here we are, with players officially able to sign contracts beginning April 11.

April 15
A’ja Wilson is signing a three-year, $5 million contract to return to the Las Vegas Aces. The deal is fully guaranteed and is the largest in WNBA history.
Chennedy Carter has signed a training camp contract with the Las Vegas Aces. The No. 4 pick in the 2020 WNBA draft, Carter last played in the league in 2024. The former WNBA All-Rookie selection has averaged 14.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists over 84 career games.
April 14
Three-time WNBA champion Alysha Clark has agreed to a one-year deal with the Dallas Wings, her agent told ESPN. Clark was previously with the Washington Mystics.
Free agent Temi Fagbenle has signed with the Toronto Tempo on a one-year deal worth $1 million, per her agent. Fagbenle was most recently with the Golden State Valkyries.
Three-time Canadian Olympian Kia Nurse has signed a one-year deal with the Tempo. Nurse was previously with the Chicago Sky and becomes the first Canadian player to join the Tempo’s inaugural roster.
Monique Akoa Makani is signing a two-year deal to return to the Phoenix Mercury, a source told ESPN.
April 13
Restricted free agent Shakira Austin is returning to the Washington Mystics on a three-year deal worth $3.57 million, sources told ESPN. Austin had signed an offer sheet with the Toronto Tempo with those terms, but Washington matched them. Austin has played all three seasons of her WNBA career with the Mystics.
Myisha Hines-Allen has signed with the Indiana Fever, the team revealed. Hines-Allen spent last season with the Dallas Wings.
Stephanie Talbot has signed a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Aces, ESPN’s Alexa Philippou verified. Talbot was most recently with the New York Liberty.
Brianna Turner has signed with the Las Vegas Aces, the team revealed. Turner spent last season with the Indiana Fever.
The details of Jewell Loyd’s three-year, $2.2 million-plus deal with the Las Vegas Aces have been verified to ESPN’s Andraya Carter. Loyd will be paid $800,000 in 2026, $840,000 in 2027 and $860,000 in 2028.
Rebecca Allen and Pauline Astier have signed one-year deals with the New York Liberty, ESPN’s Alexa Philippou verified. Allen had spent her first seven seasons in the league with the Liberty. Astier is a French point guard.
The Las Vegas Aces have re-signed Dana Evans, ESPN’s Kareem Copeland verified. Evans had joined the Aces last season after four years in Chicago.
Kayla Thornton has signed a one-year deal with the Golden State Valkyries, ESPN’s Kendra Andrews. Thornton sat out the second half of last season after suffering a season-ending knee injury in July.
The Las Vegas Aces have re-signed NaLyssa Smith, ESPN’s Kareem Copeland revealed.

Emma Cannon signed a one-year vet minimum deal at $292,500 to return to the Los Angeles Sparks, her agent told ESPN’s Alexa Philippou.
Kahleah Copper, DeWanna Bonner and Sami Whitcomb have re-signed with the Phoenix Mercury, the team revealed. Copper’s deal is for two years, a source told ESPN’s Kendra Andrews.
Megan Gustafson is signing a two-year deal — $500,000 in the first year and $525,000 in the second — to join the Portland Fire, ESPN’s Alexa Philippou revealed. Gustafson spent the past two seasons with the Aces.

The WNBA’s core player designation is akin to the NFL franchise tag. A team can “core” a player to prevent them from becoming an unrestricted free agent by retaining their unique rights.
The core designation gives a team unique negotiating rights to a player and comes with a baseline contract of a fully guaranteed one-year deal worth the supermax ($1.4 million in 2026), though the player can negotiate different terms.
