Scotland held on for a nervy nine-run victory over Candada to secure a place at next year’s World Cup Qualifier after a tense ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match in Forfarshire.
Fin McCreath’s 112, his first international century, helped the hosts post 281-7 at Forthill.
Canada hit 50 inside eight overs thanks to Yuvraj Sumra (78), but they fell to 181-7 only for a partnership of 84 by Ansh Patel and captain Saad Bin Zafar to take them close to their target before George Munsey’s catch secured Scotland’s win with four balls remaining.
Scotland are now assured a place at next year’s Qualifier as Canada cannot catch them in the League 2 standings.
It was the first game of the tri-series, which also involves the United Arab Emirates, to beat the wet weather after two washouts.
Grange batter McCreath reached his century from 135 balls in the 47th over.
